Beach

East Beach offers many access points for sand and surf. Please note areas marked “No Parking”, and respect homeowner’s property as you make your way to the beach.

Due to the natural shifting of sand with the tides, there are sandbars just off the East Beach coastline and Gould’s Inlet. Each year, many people require emergency assistance to get back to the shore as a result of lack of knowledge and understanding of the danger of fast-rising tides. This can become a life-threatening situation, even for experienced swimmers, leaving beachgoers at risk from dangerous rip currents and strong incoming tides. Take note of the signs at each beach access point.

Beach Rules for Glynn County:

  • No glass containers.
  • No motorized vehicles.
  • No littering.
  • Please use the beach trash receptacle or carry your trash off the beach to a dumpster. There is a dumpster located in the parking lot at the Coast Guard Station.
  • If your animal leaves more than prints in the sand, please pick it up and dispose of it in a trash receptacle.
  • For a full listing of beach rules, read the Glynn County Code of Ordinances

This applies to areas between 16th Street (East Beach) and Mallery Street (SSI Pier). During allowable times and in non-summer months, dogs are allowed on any portion of the beach, but must be within close proximity and under the immediate control of the owner/handler. If the dog’s handler is unable to control the pet via voice-command, a 10′ leash is required. Owners must clean up after their pets.
